Northeast is now being actively promoted as the new Bangalore for IT companies. The government is actively trying to advance this region as a center for business process outsourcing & other IT-enabled service (ITes).

Northeast is having only one out of 47 STPs present in India. This has made the government think seriously about establishing at least two STPs in each state in that region.

The Indian ITes industry is expected to touch $26 billion by 2009-10 & $10 billion by 2006-07.

It will first generate a lot of opportunities and it will boost overall development of northeast.
